The Denver Landmark Preservation Commission gave final approval in the spring of 2006 to demolish the existing 98-year old concrete fountain vault and reconstruct an identical
replacement. The new fountain vault will be one foot lower than the existing vault, a design change made to accommodate the lowering of the water level in Ferril Lake by two feet when the Montclair Stormwater Detention Project is completed.
The Friends of the Electric Fountain web site is always under construction.
We will have more information to post about our partners for the fund-raising campaign in 2007.
The 1908 Electric Fountain vault was demolished in December, 2006. All of the original fountain nozzles and many of the water feature display manifolds were salvaged for either historical or fund-raising purposes. Surprisingly, only 17 of the hundreds of original nozzles were bronze.
